Revolutionary Service: In The Orange County Public Claims, in the Virginia State Library, Archives Division, Richmond, are the following: I hereby certify that I have received of James Herndon for public use 325 lbs of Beef for which he is entitled to receive payment. The Orange County Court Minutes, Vol. 2., 173, show the approval of the first of these items on 1 April 1782. A photostat of this claim is in the Adjutant General's Office, National Archives, Washington, D.C., and is numbered 39,570.
